Technology Goes Back In Time!
Last week I was in Adelaide for a leadership workshop and happened to be there on the Saturday morning when the annual Christmas pageant came to town. Signs were everywhere announcing that Santa had arrived in Adelaide and thousands lined the streets to celebrate the occasion.
There were dancers and bands and floats and all of the usual things that kids enjoy, but one thing was for certain, the last float with Santa on was the float that everyone had come to see.
One of the main reasons that I stayed watching for so long was that my hotel was on the opposite side of King William Street than me and there was no way that they were going to let me cross until Santa had passed; so I joined in with the celebrations.
As the final floats approached, I saw three camels with wise men on them. This could only mean one thing, baby Jesus was almost here. Then he arrived with his parents Mary and Joseph and it was at this time that I saw one of the funniest and yet inappropriate things I have ever seen.
Mary sat there holding the baby Jesus and waving to the crowd and next to her stood the proud father Joseph also waving to the crowd, while at the same time talking on his mobile phone. It just wasn’t right!
I know we are moving at a rapid pace but this is ridiculous. Who was he talking to? Maybe God! Maybe he was locking in a job to build a house extension. He was a carpenter you know! Maybe he was ringing the relatives to tell them that he and Mary were just coming down King William Street. Maybe he was annoyed that this big fat fella in the float behind was getting more attention than him.
I am not sure but it just wasn’t right!
I’m not sure what the message of this Blog is – maybe there isn’t one, but it just captured my sense of humour and I had to share it.
Until next time – keep getting disturbed.
