Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal

Australia’s largest and longest running Christmas gift Appeal

This year marks the 35-year anniversary of the Kmart Wishing tree in conjunction with The Salvation Army to help support those doing it tough at Christmas. The idea for the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal began in 1987 when an Adelaide team member suggested Kmart use its wide network of stores as gift collection points to assist charity groups at Christmas time.

From there, the Appeal grew and grew to become what it is today. The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is Australia’s largest and longest running Christmas gift Appeal. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Australian community, the Appeal has raised more than 10 million gifts that have been distributed to those in need. Proteus were proud to be able to donate over 100 gifts to this amazing cause.

You can also help make sure a child doesn’t go without a present this Christmas by making a cash contribution in store, or online, or giving a gift in store.

The appeal run from 7th November to 24th December.

It has again been our privilege at Proteus to be able to assist organisations such as these to help our community. The needs are so great, but every little bit helps, so what can you do in your own community to make a difference?
