Operation Christmas Child
In November I had the honour of volunteering on several occasions with an organisation called Samaritan’s Purse and specifically their Operation Christmas Child project. Operation Christmas Child is a national initiative where you can help children in need at Christmas time by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, clothing and fun gifts.
The shoeboxes are sorted by many volunteers to ensure that all items included are age appropriate and if there is anything missing, items are added to ensure that each child is receiving a shoebox jam packed full of goodies. These shoeboxes are then distributed to children in over 100 countries to ensure that they receive something special at Christmas time.
It was amazing to see how many organisations, schools, churches, sporting clubs and individuals have embraced this initiative and were so generous with their donations and how intentional and thoughtful each shoe box was.
