It Is A Virtual World Full Of Opportunity

With the introduction of business lockdowns some 21 weeks ago, Proteus made the challenging decision to quickly pivot and create a new Virtual training company called Proteus Virtual.

The learning curve for the whole team has been incredibly steep, but also an exciting time, full of opportunity.

Our mantra has always been to ‘Create Great Leaders’ and that will never change, but now we are committed to making that happen a different way by becoming the best Virtual Training company in the country.

Already hundreds of people have participated in our new Virtual programs and many of our upcoming programs are already ‘sold out’ and we thank you all for that.

Running a Virtual company is not just opening up the computer, logging in and speaking to people.

The experience must be as close to a face-to-face environment as possible. The management of the Zoom platform, the interactive workbooks and the facilitation must all be exceptional and combine to give people a real learning experience. And that is what we have committed to achieving. I am so proud of my team right now and the work they have put in.

But the really exciting part of this is that whatever is thrown at each of us is never insurmountable if we are prepared to look for the opportunity in the seemingly bad situation.

I heard a person speak about this recently and she stated that we need to become hunters for good. Not only hunters for the good things that have happened, but for those that are happening now and for those things yet to happen - waiting for us to embrace them.

We are currently in the first week of total lockdown in Melbourne. We can’t leave our homes, we can’t go to work, we must wear masks and we have a curfew after 8:00pm every night. All of these things are necessary, but it doesn’t make life easy or pleasant.

So, what do we do about it? Well, I think we should go hunting for good, because when we lose HOPE, we lose everything.

So, whatever your current situation is, my challenge to you this week is to take 15 minutes out and make a list of the things you are grateful for in your life right now. Then once you have flipped your thinking and are seeing things differently, identify one opportunity that you could take on board and develop over the next week.

This is as much about retraining our brains as it is about just coming up with new ideas.

So, let’s go hunting shall we, you never know what is out there until you start looking.

Have an awesome week everyone.

Staff Recipe - Leanne's Panna Cotta

Our Proteus chef this week is Leanne Keillor from our finance department. Leanne has been with Proteus for over twenty years with breaks to have two children. She is also a great cook.

Leanne's Panna Cotta

Ingredients

  • • 1/3 cup skim milk
  • • 1 envelope unflavoured gelatine (25oz or 1½ tsp powdered gelatine)
  • • 2 ½ cups heavy cream (600ml)
  • • ½ cup white sugar
  • • 1½ tsp vanilla extract

Method

  1. Pour milk into small bowl and stir in the gelatine powder. Set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, stir together the heavy cream and sugar over medium heat.
  3. Bring to a full boil, watching carefully, as the cream will quickly rise to the top of the pan.
  4. Pour the gelatine and milk into the cream, stirring until completely dissolved. Cook for one minute, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat, stir in the vanilla and pour into six individual ramekin dishes (or miniature serving cups for a finger food function).
  5. Cool the ramekins uncovered at room temperature.
  6. When cool, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, but preferably overnight before serving.

Serving suggestions - chopped strawberries, chopped cherries, frozen berries thawed which then creates a delicious syrup or shaved chocolate.
