As I mentioned in my last post, I had the enormous privilege of returning to my old school, Adelaide High School, some 50 years after leaving, to speak at their leadership assembly.
Several hundred student leaders, teachers, assistant principals, parents and the graduating class of 2019 were in attendance, along with local politician, Peter Malinauskas MP and the senior leaders of the school led by Principal, Cezanne Green.
Two things really stood out to me during my visit:
The motto of the school is – not just for school but for life and I truly sensed that this was exactly what was being communicated by the staff and adopted by the students.
During the presentation I spoke about my underwhelming academic record and some of the humorous things that I could still remember after 50 years, albeit at times the students looked at me as if I was an alien.
“What do you mean there were no computers and mobile phones?”
It really makes you appreciate what has changed in that short period of time.
During my presentation to the students I spoke about what I believe are the keys to becoming a successful leader, both at school and in life, and they are:
Some of the feedback blew my mind like, “sir you changed my life today”.
Whether we are at school, or well into our leadership life, these qualities are still as relevant as ever and I hope that time does not stop us from also seeking ways to be better leaders.
So, to all of the students and staff at Adelaide High School, thank you for the privilege, you have certainly taught me a lot and I am deeply humbled by the experience.

Unfortunately, due to global Health concerns, we have to postpone our Bali Conference due to be held in August 2020 to 13th & 14th April 2021.
The good news is that you have more time to consider attending the program and seeking the internal permission required.
Also, if you were thinking of attaching leave to the conference then it is close to the 2021 Easter break so bring the family and friends along.
Bookings are still being taken now for the event.

A Program For Leadership And Life
In this fast paced, ever changing role of leadership, the expectation of today’s leaders and what we have the capacity to give, can often conflict.
The real success of a leader is not the ability to keep going, but in fact the ability to know when and how to STOP and RESET our leadership life.
In order to do this, we must understand and practice the skills of:
This workshop is designed to assist leaders in leading themselves and their teams to success and continue to build relevance and resilience in their personal and professional lives.
During the workshop we deal with topics that are often overlooked or avoided, but are in fact the life blood of dynamic, successful leadership.
If you only attend one program in 2020, make sure it is the RESETTING YOUR LEADERSHIP Workshop, because until we are prepared to RESET who we are, how we think and how we act, we will continue to struggle in our leadership role.
This is a workshop for individuals and teams wanting to be better and different.
