Stop and Appreciate What you Have!

Last Saturday morning I had the pleasure of having breakfast with my tribe, my family. The occasion was to celebrate the birthday of my son-in-law. As usual when my family meets in a restaurant it is quite an occasion. Anyone hoping to have a nice quiet Saturday breakfast in peace soon realises that it is not going to happen. Yes, we are loud.

With four children and their partners, seven grand-children ranging in age from 2 years of age to 22, my own partner and a few family members it is impossible to not see us or hear us.

A beautiful older couple were next to us and the man leaned over and commented on what a happy group we were. I think he meant loud, but I’ll take happy.

As food enough for a village was arriving and coffees and smoothies were like a production line, I just sat back and was overwhelmed by how blessed I was.

I was sitting at a table with 20 beautiful people who I loved, and a sense of pride and satisfaction swept over me.

What more could I possibly want in life?

Sure, we all have goals and things that we want to achieve, but sometimes we just need to sit back and look at what and who we have in our lives and focus on building those relationships. Maybe then, everything else we want will come to pass, or maybe those things will not seem so important anymore when we get our priorities right.

So, take 5 minutes out of your life today to appreciate what you have, because it will put a smile on your face and help you to see what is really important.
