Sorry everyone, no video this week, because I am in lockdown in Melbourne – again!
I know it might sound like a contradiction right now, but how lucky are we to be living in the most exciting time in history, thus far?
A few years ago, if we had a COVID-19 outbreak, we would not have seen each other for 12 months and our correspondence would have been by telephone or some dodgy conferencing equipment.
Many, many more businesses would have gone under due to an inability to communicate and families and friends completely isolated in some situations so, that is why I believe that we are so blessed to be living in this time in history, even if it is challenging.
That’s also why one of the things that really annoys me is when I hear leaders saying – “I never want to do a Zoom or Teams meeting again”. They are so annoying. They take up so much of my time.
Well, it is time to Flip Our Thinking People!
How lucky are we to have the communication tools and technology to keep our businesses and interaction happening? The skill is to celebrate it, not resent it. The skill is to find different ways to use it, to make it interesting and entertaining.
Mind you, I can’t wait until I can say – “beam me up Scotty” and be transported to wherever I need to be. If you are under 40 years of age you may not know who Scotty is, but you get the message.
I know I am sounding a bit Zen this week, but I truly have been reflecting a lot lately on just how fortunate we are, but only if we are prepared to open our eyes and see and own it.
Sure, I don’t like what is happening at the moment, but we live in a time where we can actually believe that it can be beaten, and we can go on to a better life than we had before.
That is not an option people had 50 -100 years ago.
So, let’s Flip our thinking and be thankful for what we can do and the tools that we have to do it, and stop our complaining, and let’s not take these things for granted.
