Hi everyone,
I pinch myself sometimes when I realise just how privileged I am to be able to do what I love on a daily basis.
I know I have spoken about the privilege of leadership many times, but often when I stop and reflect, it rolls over me like a wave.
Every day, I have the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life and/or business. Every day I get to challenge someone’s thinking. Every day I get to practice my Growth Mindset with my team.
But here is what I have also realised, this is not just luck; I made it happen, and so have millions of others across the world – including you.
Although there have been many things to learn, at the core of everything is understanding what a privilege it is to serve.
I honestly believe that our level of success can almost be measured against our recognition and understanding of the privilege we have been given to serve.
Understanding privilege is realising that it is not about what we have, but more about who we are. It is not about self absorbtion, but it is about making things better for those around us.
When we try to lead without understanding this privilege, then it becomes an absolute chore, and we start to only see the problems around us, rather than the possibilities.
So, my challenge to you this week is to find some time where you can just sit down and reflect on the privilege you have been given to lead and impact other people’s lives.
No, it won’t eliminate the challenging things we have to address each day, but it certainly will change the way that we address them.
It has been a privilege sharing this with you.
Have a great week.
