Hi everyone,
We often wonder what the long-term impact of the last two years will be on people and businesses, but there is no doubt about the short-term impact that we are all facing right now. We are exhausted – go away!
Every friend and client that I speak to right now says, “I know I have to address that, but I simply can’t find the time or the effort to do it right now – I am exhausted, and just when I think I am getting on top of things, something else comes along.”
Please stop the world and let me get off for a moment.
Even though we think this is short-term, the long-term impact of not stopping can constantly cause massive issues both mentally and physically.
No wonder the health sector is struggling at the moment. Being right at the forefront of disaster for an extended period of time is simply not sustainable – they are exhausted.
So, what are you planning to do about it? Are you actively addressing it, or are you simply too tired to fix it?
Believe it or not, we are all still in control of our actions and decisions and it might be that we just have to jump off the wheel for a minute to take stock of where we are at, and evaluate the damage we are doing to ourselves and our relationships by not addressing the issue.
I know it’s not easy, and I would never for a moment suggest it is, but the alternatives are not pleasant. So, I encourage you to use this simple model that I have shared before, that helps us to STOP and reflect, even if just for a few minutes.
S – Slow Down
T – Take stock
O – Own it
P – Proceed
I use this simple model every day so that I can understand what I am dealing with and in turn not allow the issues of the day to become entangled with the issues of the past months and years.
It won’t solve everything, but it will help you to allow your mind to take a short break and re calibrate.
Give it a go every day next week, because staying healthy in body and mind is so important.
Have a great week,
Des Penny

Creating A Positive Culture
Virtual Workshop
HOW TO LEAD ROBUST, RESILIENT, NO-WHINGE, SOLUTION-FOCUSED WORKPLACES
Creating Positive Cultures is about giving people the skills and permission to destroy dysfunction, kill off negative influences and the space for all your positive people to shine and thrive.
Culture is all about your behaviours, it is what to do. So great leaders and workplaces don’t allow their culture to happen by default, they design it together by agreeing to operate above the line in a positive, professional and proactive way.
This allows for a psychological safe space to innovate, stay relevant, to fight clean to develop resilience, gratitude and a growth mindset, while giving staff permission to call people out on any toxic behaviours.
This results in a self-regulating culture where people celebrate achievements while creating great relationships, products and services.
