Hi everyone,
Growing up on a dairy farm in Nar Nar Goon with eight siblings, I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. How I envied my friends who had a clear vision for their adult future!
I knew that farming wasn't for me. The thought of leaving school at 15 to pursue a trade (the family and community expectations) filled me with dread. Oh, I wished that I had the natural talent for fixing things with my hands. Even today I struggle with changing light bulbs, and please don’t mention assembling furniture from flat packs!
During my twenties, I explored various industries, trying to find the perfect workplace. I quickly realised that there is no utopian workplace. You don’t find your passion! Instead, you need to Bring Your Passion to whatever it is that you are doing.
Then I stumbled upon Workplace Training and Development. I quickly discovered that it’s an actual thing, and I might just be good at it! Not only could I bring the best passionate version of myself to the Adult Education arena. I now have a transformational lifelong cause to dedicate myself to something bigger and greater than myself.
I found my grown-up thing!
In 1999 I joined Des Penny the founder at Proteus Leadership, to help expand the business and be the key lead facilitator. Here I work to create great leaders through our workshops, programs and coaching. How lucky am I.
Now it’s July 2023, I am incredibly honoured and privileged to assume the sole CEO role at Proteus. ‘Happy Scared’ would be the best way to describe it.
Alongside our exceptional Proteus team, I get to keep growing, while we keep transforming, staying curious and continuing to provide amazing services to our clients and partners.
We’ll be having some fun along the way while we are doing this very grown-up thing called Leadership Development.
Remember wherever you are, bring your passion to everyone around you, while you keep discovering what you want to be when you grow up.
